That was the time of the Aurelia and of the Cinquecento "C". Coppi and Bartali used to cycle along the Col d'Izoard streets. Along the way, which from Milan leads to Cantù, you used to find a filling station. On the left side towards the city. A white building, a masonry cantilever roof and shining plants near the fuel pumps; machine shop, washing, tyres and oil resale Behind the fuel storage.
It was the first one, in Cantù, like this. There was normal and premium grade fuel, the petrol for the Lambretta and the diesel oil pump, just few steps away, for the trucks.

And time has gone by. The memory of those beautiful days and those sleepless nights gets lost, by now. We are still there, along the same street. Not very far from that filling station. We are still full of passion, just as before when a truck used to call us in the middle of the night for the fill. That it used to leave for its long trip.
